Play Resource launch 'Waste to Art' Appeal

The launch of our 'Waste to Art' Appeal took place at the Showcase for the Industry Arts Project. The appeal is aimed at industry and commerce across Northern Ireland. The 'Waste to Art Appeal' asks them to consider a new way to dispose of their non-toxic waste ."Don't throw it away - Give it to Play!"

The Appeal launched with the unveiling of the 'ScrapOmeter' created by staff to measure the amount of waste donated. We are looking for 100 new firms to donate their waste to keep the warehouse full and fresh. Several newspapers mentioned our appeal including the Irish News, the News Letter and the Ulster Star.

The Appeal is launched with the support of Belfast City Council's Neighbourhood Economic Development Programme, which is funded through the Building Sustainable Prosperity Programme. Councillor Michael Browne, Chairman of the Economic Development Sub-Committee recognises,

"We are delighted to be supporting such a creative solution to this problem - Firms donating to Play Resource can be confident that their waste will benefit the local community instead of going to landfill".

So strong was their commitment that they contacted around 900 firms with our message to get the appeal underway.

If you know of any firms who may wish to donate their waste to help the 'Waste to Art' Appeal reach its target for 100 new firms - please let us know!
