Exciting new exhibition of BMC Art & Craft Training Course students’ work coming to the Ideas Gallery for July & August
Showcase of BMC Community Art & Craft Training Course at Play Resource sees a fantastic collection of mosaics created by students from OCN Level 2. This course has been designed by artist Anna O’Kane in response to a need she identified for accredited training for those delivering Arts & Craft Workshops in local communities. The next intake of the course OCN Level 1 will start again in September '08.
The partnership between Anna, Play Resource and Belfast Metropolitan College (BMC) has been a great success with several intakes of the Community Arts & Craft Training Course Level 1 & 2. Both designed to fire the imagination, build skills and confidence, and help participants deliver art & craft ideas to a range of age groups in a professional, organised manner.
OCN Level 1 - Creative Craft Skills Certificate
Aim: For anyone working with a community group to improve their Art & Craft skills. The course assesses the practical skills of the participants on an on-going basis. All learners will produce a folder of activity plans, templates and practical work based on the imaginative use of recycled scrap materials.
OCN Level 2 - Design Project Certificate
Aim: To build practical skills in a focused way based on a set of design projects. Participants are encouraged to build on their practical, technical and design skills in specific areas such as mosaic, building 3D structures, felt-making etc while learning how to collate research material and work in an organised, logical manner.
