Favourite Nursery Rhymes inspire creativity in new the Ideas Gallery display.
The Shop Team have been busy again creating a new display, with Early Years in mind. They set about creating colourful characters based on famous nursery rhymes, using a combination of scrap and shop products to illustrate the rhymes, like Hey diddle diddle the cat and the fiddle….and the dish ran away with the spoon, Baa Baa Black Sheep and Humpty Dumpty. Plus this month the Ideas Gallery plays host as member group PLACE showcase their ‘Our Belfast’ exhibition.
The end result is a fun and colourful look at nursery rhymes with the chance to teach young children about counting, colours, history, rhythm and rhyme. With an emphasis on colour and texture, by visually representing the story of the rhymes and capturing the characters in picture form children’s learning retention is often increased. Many of the creations on display can be made very cheaply and simply on a limited budget.
Plus this month the Ideas Gallery plays host as member group PLACE showcase their ‘Our Belfast’ exhibition. The exhibition is the result of a series of workshops. The artwork includes the children’s impressions of five key buildings they visited within Belfast: the Grand Opera House, the Waterfront Hall, St. Georges Market, City Hall and the Linen Hall Library.
