Back by popular demand the Community Art & Craft Training Course
Due to start again in September, the Community Arts and Craft Training Course (OCN level 1) is an accredited course aimed at anyone who is working with a community group or intending to work with one, and would like to improve their Art & Craft skills. Each participant will receive a free starter pack of materials from Play Resource to the value of £15. Register now while places still remain!
The Community Arts and Craft Training Course OCN level 1, held at Play Resource but offered by the newly formed Belfast Metropolitan College, is an accredited course aimed at anyone who is working with a community group or intending to work with one, and would like to improve their Art & Craft skills. Whether you work with children, teenagers or the elderly you will be given the opportunity to develop ideas for creative activity and experiment with a range of media. On completion of the course, successful candidates will receive OCN level 1. Each participant will receive a free starter pack of materials from Play Resource to the value of £15. Course Details
Start Date: Tue 18 September 2007
Time: 10am to 12pm
Attendance: two hours per week for 15 weeks
Cost: £50 full fee/£20 concession. Plus Accreditation Fee £20 in addition to concession/full fee

Content
- Planning for arts and crafts activities and development of ideas
- Exploring art techniques within a group context
- Practical use of art materials and equipment
- Health and safety procedures relating to arts and crafts
- Awareness of current Child Protection policy.
Assessment
Participants will produce a folder of activity plans, templates and samples of work undertaken throughout the course - assessment ongoing.
Employment/further study
Development of arts skills within current place of employment or OCN Level 2 due to run in the second semester in January 2008.
