Schools inspire Giant’s Park Art Exhibition
Wednesday 23 May saw the launch of a new exhibition upstairs at Play Resource featuring the artwork produced by three schools involved in the Giant’s Park project; Castle High School; Oakwood School and Assessment Centre and Glenwood Primary School. The exhibition will run until early October 2007. Everyone is invited to come along and have a look upstairs in the Art Space and see how their imaginations ran wild!
In May 2007 Belfast City Council approached Play Resource to organise an exhibition featuring the Giant’s Park. The Giant’s Park is the proposal being put forward by Belfast City Council to the Lottery to develop Dargan landfill site. Three schools were involved in the project; Castle High School; Oakwood School and Assessment Centre and Glenwood Primary School. The idea was for the Council to receive inspiration and gain some insight into what children might like to see in the new Giant’s Park. An artist from Play Resource worked with the schools to develop the children’s ideas. The artwork produced was absolutely fantastic and the ideas they came up with were extremely original and creative. All the artwork was put on display in Play Resource’s Art Space and the three schools involved came in for the launch of the exhibition. The children were so excited to see their artwork on show.
The exhibition will run until early October 2007. Everyone is invited to come along and have a look and you will see how their imaginations ran wild!
