Back by popular demand for 2012!!  We are delighted to offer two Community Arts & Crafts Training Courses in January.

The aim of these courses is to build artistic skills, confidence, develop creativity and generate new ideas for those working, or wishing to work, with community groups.

Community Arts & Crafts Training Course – LEVEL 1 – Entry requirements: No formal qualifications necessary.  Level 1 comprises two comprehensive units, exploring basic visual language, including painting, printing & collage.

Community Arts & Crafts Training Course – LEVEL 2 – Entry requirements: No formal qualifications necessary, but completion of Level 1 is an advantage.  Level 2 comprises three units including mosaic and sculpture from found materials.

Start Date: Thursday 12th January 2012
Time: LEVEL 1 -  2.30-5.00pm / LEVEL 2 – 6.00-8.30pm
Venue: Play Resource Training Room
Duration: 2.5 hours x 12 weeks
Cost: £55 member / £65 non-member

Looking for Ideas & Inspiration? We are now taking bookings for our exciting programme of Christmas Workshops including ideas for early years, decorations and big Christmas characters!

All workshops take place at Play Resource, Training Room from 1.30pm – 4.30pm.

• Wednesday 9 November – Big Ideas for Christmas, with Artist Laureen Magill

Come and join us as we celebrate Culture Night Belfast on Friday 23 September at University of Ulster, York Street.  Play Resource is holding a free family drop-in art workshop ‘Scrap Challenge – Create a Masterpiece’ from 5pm to 9pm.

Help re-create Van Gogh’s famous masterpiece ‘Starry Night’ for Culture Night on a giant scale using only scrap at our free fun family friendly drop-in art workshop!

Each child or adult can create their own unique tile using scrap to be slotted into the big picture. The piece of artwork will grow over the course of the evening to create one giant ‘work of art’ from scrap materials.  By the end of Culture Night we will have an exciting scrap collage to exhibit at Play Resource to give others ideas & inspiration.

Course Student Created Scrap Butterfly

Get ready for the return of the popular Play Resource Community Arts & Crafts Training Course – starts on Thursday 15th September!!

The aim of this course is to build artistic skills, confidence, develop creativity and generate new ideas for those working, or wishing to work, with community groups.  It is a fantastic opportunity for personal or professional development.

Start Date: Thursday 15th September 2011
Time: 6.00-8.30pm
Venue: Play Resource, Training Room
Duration: 2.5 hours x 12 weeks
Cost: £60 (non-members) & £50 (members)
Entry requirements: No formal qualifications necessary

Arts Training for Summer – Creative Outdoor Play Workshops

To celebrate 25 Years of funding by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Play Resource is offering the following training workshops to our members free of charge!

One day with two free workshops on offer on Thursday 26 May 2011 at Play Resource.

1. Big Ideas – Arts and Adventure in the Great Outdoors!
Artist: Laureen Magill
Time: 9:30 am – 12:30pm
It’s all about having fun outdoors and working together, creating big structures…. What about a castle with all its furnishings! All you’ll need is cardboard boxes, scrap materials, a basic supply of arts materials and imagination!

2. Quick Ideas For Creative Outdoor Play
Artist: Sally Young
Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Imaginative and sometimes slightly messy, small and large scale ideas using mainly scrap for outdoor play, willow wigwams, includes fairy houses, scrap tree or fence hangers, giant sized outdoor paintings and painting with a difference (action painting).

Due to limited places only one person per group can attend each workshop. Booking is essential.  If you wish to attend please complete the Summer Training Booking form 2011 and return it to Play Resource by Wednesday 18 May.
